The use of mobile phones has increased significantly in the
past few years which has made a huge effect on the use of social media and the
internet. It is estimated that 47% of internet users have Facebook with 1.4
billion users and it is estimated that 23% of these log onto Facebook at least
five times per day. This just shows how big Facebook is everywhere. Twitter has
284 million active users with approximately 500 million tweets daily. As we can
see from these statistics we can conclude that Facebook is by far the most
popular social media website in the world. In total it is said that 74% of women that use
the internet, use at least one social media site this is compared to 62% of
men. This is a very high amount and as time goes on these percentages seem to
be getting higher and higher. Already a lot of people now have smartphones so
they can enter their social media sites in very few taps.
